The artists booked at Tyler and Fernando's festival are top-knotch. Fruteland Jackson is a friend of mine and is keeping the acoustic blues tradition alive - he always puts on a great show. Two of Chicago's finest female blues singers will perform - Nellie "Tiger" Travis and Jackie Scott. Jose Cornier plays some smokin' guitar with a Latin groove. Coco Elysses is a fine jazz vocalist and percussionist who frequently appears at Fred Anderson's Velvet Lounge. And Lonnie Brooks is a GIANT! It will be a great day and evening of music.
A special performance by Chicago musician Jose Cornier. Cornier, having gone through a divorce, was forced to learn how to cook on his own. He learned by watching Bayless on PBS's "Mexico: One Plate at a Time," and decided to thank the chef by writing him a new theme song. Thanks John Castro!
Jose Cornier, is currently in Chicago, a guitarist from Puerto Rico. Wait till you hear his cd "Esparanza", with live tracks and the excitement of being right there with the cheering crowd. Webmenudo.com
Jose Cornier makes artist of the month in Los Angeles for webmenudo 2006.
Jose performs for the first annual Latino Fashion Week Show @ Galleria Marchetti in Chicago.
And what live entertainment it was. The stage was hot with the gospel sounds of the St. Sabina Choir followed by the Pleasant Green M.B. Church choir. As the hot and humid day continued, so did the sizzling performances of the Johnny Drummer and the Starlighters Blues Band (regulars at Lee’s Unleaded Blues Lounge on South Chicago Ave.). Johnny Drummer had folks dancin’ to his down home blues, followed by the smooth, rhythmic sounds of Latin jazzman Jose Cornier, whose performance conjured up Carlos Santana comparisons.
